She also writes about the horrors of slavery imposed upon the Hebrews by the Canaanites. She incorporates various Hebrew customs that were followed at that time into this story. Since this is all we know of Deborah (and that she was the wife of Lapidoth), author Ann Burton brings to life a detailed fictional account of ancient Israel during Deborah's time and possibly how Deborah might have lived.
